The Caterpillar 931 Crawler Loader
The Cat 931 crawler loader was introduced in 1973. In 1977, Caterpillar introduced direct injection and sealed and lubricated tracks (SALT), beginning with 10N00526, 78U03914, and 81U00931 modifications. The 931 was then replaced in 1979 by the Cat 931B, which increased the loader’s breakout force, modified brakes, water pump, and added a five speeds forward, four reverse direct drive transmission. In 1988, the 931C was introduced, followed by 931C Series II and Series II LGP crawler loaders.
