The CAT 205 series hydraulic excavators come standard with a variable flow hydraulic system, pilot-operated controls, and a long undercarriage. Production of 205 ended in 1990 when it was replaced by the Caterpillar 205B, which increased power to 80 flywheel horsepower with the Cat 3114 turbocharged engine. The Cat 205 excavator comes standard with a load sensing hydraulic system, moving undercarriage, and a new single main pump. It also has increased lift capacity, digging depth and reach, created by higher stick and bucket forces.
