Caterpillar 951 Crawler Loader
The Caterpillar 951 traxcavator was produced between 1964 and 1969. These crawler loaders have a D330 four-cylinder engine producing 70 flywheel horsepower (FWHP) and a direct drive transmission. In 1967, the 951B was introduced, featuring 85 flywheel horsepower (FWHP) and an electric start. In 1979, the 951C replaced the 951B, adding pedal steer, a sealed loader linkage, hydraulic track adjusters, an automatic bucket positioner standard, and eventually increased horsepower to 95 FWHP. Between 1972 and 1974 a sleeve metering fuel system was added with a sealed and lubricated track (SALT). By 1977 an interim scroll fuel system and ROPS had been added, and production continued until 1981. These crawler loaders were so popular, over 17,000 total were produced. When maintained with quality undercarriage parts, these Cat 951 crawler loaders continue to earn their keep to this day.
